8 years in the work
Billing insurance for the same behavioral health practice: commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare.
About
I started out running groups, tried doing the billing, and discovered I liked it. MEBC Billing is what came of that.
Background
Billing insurance for the same behavioral health practice: commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare.
Certified addictions technician and registered as an unlicensed psychotherapist.
Client information is handled carefully, kept inside secure systems, and never discussed where it doesn't belong.
My career started in facilitation: substance use, parenting, and anger management groups. I loved working directly with clients. Then a billing position opened up at our practice, and we couldn't fill it. I had some billing experience from a previous job, so I took it on part time.
It did not take long to realize how hard it is to see clients and bill insurance at the same time. Something always gives. Eventually I had to choose, and to my own surprise I chose billing, because there's always something new to figure out, and no two days look the same.
I know what your session looked like before it became a claim. That's not something most billers can say.
I spent the next eight years billing for that same behavioral health practice. In that time I've learned the payers, built relationships with the people who work there, and gotten good at the part most therapists dread: the follow-up. Knowing who to call and what to ask is most of this job.
MEBC Billing is that same work, offered to therapists who don't have a billing department. I'm taking on new practices now, and because I'm the only person here, you always know exactly who is handling your claims.
How I work
Four leaves growing from one stem, one for each of my four kids. They're the reason I built something of my own, and eventually I'd like the mark to come from their artwork.
Outside of work
Four kids, a garden that's slowly taking over the yard, and a plan for a farm one day.
Illustrations, not photographs. The real garden is messier.
One-hour consultation
An hour on a video call, $15, and no pressure to hire me afterward.
